Valentine's Heart

A tribute to Valentine's Day. There were two stories from what I've heard about St. Valentine, One was that he was a priest who secretly married christian couples and otherwise aiding Christians who were at the time being persecuted by Claudius in Rome. Helping Christians at this time was considered a crime. Claudius took a liking to this prisoner -- until Valentinus tried to convert the Emperor -- whereupon this priest was condemned to death. He was beaten with clubs and stoned; when that didn't finish him, he was beheaded outside the Flaminian Gate.

The other was that St Valentine had fallen in love with a woman who was engaged to another man. When she rejected him, he sent her his still-beating heart before killing himself. Or something like that

Nevertheless, we all have St. Valentine to thank for giving us a day where we can enjoy with our love ones.


I'm sorry I'm late in submitting this piece, I've been so so SO! Busy lately and right now is my only free time. I've also just started college today and it's been pretty hectic.
